Holmatro Rescue Products have long been considered the world's leading extrication and rescue tools and are deployed on a daily basis in Australia and New Zealand by Rescue Professionals who's job it is to protect life in a vast range of life-critical scenarios.

For clients who have invested in Holmatro Rescue Equipment, FRSA offers in-house or on-site testing and maintenance by experienced, factory trained Service Technicians, but between scheduled servicing, there are a number of critical checks end-users should conduct following every deployment, whether that deployment be actual emergency response operations or training.

Each month, FRSA will post a checklist of instructions from the manufacturer for end-users to refer to when conducting these post-use checks, predominantly focusing on close inspection and lubrication of tools after each use to ensure readiness for immediate deployment.

This month, we will look at user maintenance of the CCU10 Mini Cutter.

Maintenance Instructions - CCU10 Mini Cutter

Maintenance Recommendations (after use, every time):

Necessary equipment: Teflon lubrication oil, WD-40, soft cloth.

Contact FRSA if one of the items does not function properly.

	Step 1 •  Check: - Its general condition - Oil leakage - Damages that can interfere with functioning or safety - Dirt: clean if necessary - Readability of the identification / safety label, replace if unreadable
	Step 2 •  Check the proper functioning of the control slide and push button •  Check: - whether the control slide moves smoothly - whether the push button moves smoothly - returns in neutral position - the blades move according the control symbols - the blades move smoothly
	Step 3 •  Check if the LED is working. •  Check the blades for damage. Replace if necessary. •  Spray a little WD40 on the blades to prevent corrosion.
	Step 4 •  Clean the hinges and grease them with Teflon oil. (also the opposite sides) •  Check the snap ring of the hinge pin for damage: - Damaged - Corroded - Worn down
	Step 5 •  Check if the battery connectors are clean, free from corrosion and undamaged
	Step 6 •  Check if the battery is fully charged •  Check that the blades are opened 5 mm.
